It’s All About Me.

5/1/13  Daily Prompt: Personal Space
To what extent is your blog a place for your own self-expression and creativity vs. a site designed to attract readers? How do you balance that? If sticking to certain topics and types of posts meant your readership would triple, would you do it?

When I started to blog, I wasn’t sure what direction it would take me.  Four months into it, I have a better idea, but that’s not set in stone.  I love connecting with the world this way, and I love that there are folks out there who are interested in what I have to say, but this is not a gimmicky site.  That is to say, I don’t see myself grooming this blog for more traffic; at least, not to a large extent.

If I find that some of my topics are more popular than others, I can write more on those, but I don’t intend to sacrifice the character of my blog to get more readers.  I don’t want to emulate anyone; I just want to be me, and you can decide whether you like me or not.  That said, I hope you do. 😉

  1. Becky I do love your posts!
Guess I am new at this whole “blog” thing, and I have felt like I was a voyeur when I read your personal posts, apparently response to the writing is encouraged? Sorry, had I known that, I may have responded many, many times before! I do not post personal opinions on fb or other places much, fearing of offending others…. and that always comes back to bite me!

But thank you. Thank you for your candidness, your refreshing outlook, and for being that person I just think is fabulous! I so admire your strength and your honesty.

    1. Thank you so much, Teri! I am glad you like my blog!
Yes, please feel free to leave a comment or a question or whatever. I am happy to see responses to what I put out there.
And thank you for the kind words. I think we all get bogged down in life and need a little comfort, a little friendship, a little love. Knowing there are others out there who understand can make all the difference. Again, thank you — and keep reading and responding!

And that little green guy is the randomly-generated avatar for you. Kinda like Grumpy Cat. 😉

  2. Yup, I know the feeling but to be honest, I can’t really figure out what people like. It seems so random, lol. So just keep posting what I think is interesting to me. For some reason other people find it interesting too, lol.

  3. I think that’s the key. You attract the people who think the same weird things you do, and all is well. At least, that’s how it seems to work for me. I’m new, so I don’t know how it will play out, but so far, so good. Of course, it helps to have some great ideas, like, oh, I dunno, a Rome Construction Crew? or something…
