My Alphabet of Songs: J

Lovin’ that music!  Hope you are all enjoying the memories that come along with it.  Check out the rest of the Alphabet posts!

  1. Josie by Steely Dan – probably my favorite Steely Dan song.
  2. Jackie Blue by the Ozark Mountain Daredevils – remember this from 70’s radio?  Love it.
  3. Jessica by the Allman Brothers Band – You can thank guitarist and lead singer Dickey Betts for this one and “Ramblin’ Man.”
  4. Java Jive by the Ink Spots – great tune from 1940, and the Manhattan Transfer version is great, as well.  Bonus – Birdland by the Transfer.  Enjoy!
  5. Jazzman by Carole King – a prolific and successful songwriter for others, she came into her own with her album Tapestry.
  6. Jackson by Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash – I just want to see June ‘dancin’ on a pony keg.’
  7. Jambalaya by Hank Williams Sr. – another song we sang around the house growing up.  Good times.
  8. Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho by Jimmie Rodgers – I loved singing this as a kid.
  9. Jive Talkin’ by the Bee Gees – here they are again.
  10. The Joker by The Steve Miller Band –  Wanna feel old?  It came out 40 years ago, in 1973.  Ouch!
  11. Joy To The World by Three Dog Night – another one of those songs that everyone can sing.  Love these guys!
  12. Just the Two of Us by Grover Washington, Jr. and Bill Withers – This tune, cowritten by Grover Washington, Jr, an R&B/jazz saxophonist, and Bill Withers, is a winner.
